Overview

CASA is currently looking for a new Director for our Awards and Compilations program. For over 20 years, CASA has recognized outstanding achievement and performance in a cappella with the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARAs), the A Cappella Community Awards (ACAs), the A Cappella Video Awards (AVAs), and compilations such as SING. The ideal candidate for this position would have experience with CASA’s awards and/or compilations programs.

Expectations

The Director of Awards is responsible for overseeing all of CASA’s awards and compilations efforts, maintaining the vision of recognizing and promoting excellence in a cappella. This includes organizing the infrastructure of awards and compilations teams as well as supervising the selection and success of committee members, nominators, and judges for each awards and compilation program. Regular conference calls with CASA Board and award and team compilation members would be required. This role would work closely with the Director of Technology, the Director of Events, and the Treasurer.

The Director oversees all awards and compilation programs and volunteers, and manages the programs through:

  • Creating and maintaining the vision for awards, recognition, and compilations, in line with the overall mission of CASA.
  • Maintaining all current CASA awards and compilations programs, including: the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARAs), the A Cappella Community Awards (ACAs), SING compilation, and ongoing compilation projects
  • Organizing the infrastructure of awards and compilations teams
  • Ensuring functionality of the CARA website and related pages on casa.org, liaising with the CASA Technology team
  • Selecting, mentoring and supervising Program Managers, committee members, nominators, and judges for each award or compilation program
  • Attending regular conference calls and one-on-one calls with the CASA Board and award and compilation team members.
  • Coordinating all administrative logistics through use of email and various Google applications.
  • Setting program budget(s) and liaising with the CASA Treasurer
  • Maintaining positive communication on behalf of CASA with the community and other key stakeholders
  • Ensuring a consistent brand strategy for all programs – this includes marketing visuals, logos, photography and graphics
  • Vetting new awards, recognitions, or compilations programs for inclusion under the CASA umbrella
  • Participating in monthly Board calls and in regular ongoing Board communications

In order to be successful in these responsibilities, the Director of Awards will need to have regular availability of 5-10 hours per week on average. Time commitment may increase or decrease seasonally.
